A Choral Eucharist and Act of Remembrance for the children who never returned home from Indian Residential Schools, was held March 30, 2014, the last day of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) National Event in Edmonton. Held at All Saints’ Cathedral, the service began with a smudging ceremony led by the Rev. Travis Enright, Canon Missioner for Indigenous Ministry. The Most Rev. Fred Hiltz, Primate of the Anglican Church of Canada, lit the first candle of remembrance from the Paschal candle. Members of the congregation, who also lit candles, included Canon David Porter, the Archbishop of Canterbury’s Director for Reconciliation, Archbishop Terry Finlay, Primate’s Envoy for Residential Schools and the Hon.
